FS: Complete 16TB unRaid Pro server, vintage but solid

Featured Replies

I'm selling my old 16TB unRaid server, just reimaged with running unRaid 5.0.6 Pro. It's a bit vintage at this point, but since it spends most of its time sleeping it's still in great shape. Much of this equipment was on the LimeTech recommended list back in the day. It isn't a good box for running virtual machines, but it's plenty fast enough to run unRaid itself.

There are 6 ununused drive trays for further expansion, and there are four unused ports on one of the controller cards for even more expansion (although you'd have to find someplace to put the drives). I've heard that the AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards should in theory support 3TB+ drives with a firmware upgrade, but I haven't tried it myself.

Also note that all the fans on the drive cages generate a bit of noise, so I've always had this parked in another room. I recommend that you do the same.  ;D

I'm asking $500 or best offer + shipping for the lot. United States only. I estimate that the whole thing would cost over $700 if you built it off of eBay finds, so that seems fair, but everything is negotiable.

The entire kit weight 63 pounds (the case and drive cages are a big chunk of steel!), and I estimate shipping to be $80-$100 depending on location. If you're within driving distance of Tennesee I'm sure we can arrange something resembling a local pickup. I'm also willing to discuss other options to keep your shipping costs down, including pulling out everything but the drive cages and selling that, pulling out everything including the drive cages and selling that, etc. A good bit of the weight is in the hard drives themselves, but without the case you can use smaller boxes and save on the dimensional weight that's really behind the higher shipping cost.

Please see the attachments for pictures, screenshots, and SMART reports. I can't post everything, but I have several more pictures that I can send.
