Release: Tonido Server

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

I have put together a container for Tonido server. It allows secure remote file management(including downloading files from unRAID server remotely) and file access (Video/Audio Streaming etc.). It also comes with some pretty great iOS and Android apps for remote access.

Official Blurb:

Tonido Server allows you to access all your files on your computer from a web browser, smartphone, tablet or even DLNA enabled devices. No setup necessary.

You get an easy to remember link to your computer. e.g.: http://john.tonidoID.com.

It is easy to get started, just install the Tonido Server software and run your own Personal Cloud.

It is fairly self explanitory when set up.

Go to: http://www.tonido.com/ for more info.

To get it, just add my repo:

https://github.com/CaptInsano/docker-containers/tree/templates

Hope you enjoy,

The Capt.

Thanks Capt'n! Worked like a treat for me (unRAID 6.0-beta14b).

I hadn't heard about Tonido before I stumbled across it here. Turns out it was exactly what I had been needing, a super easy way to share files securely with people for whom FTP (and even Plex) was just too complicated. My first impressions of Tonido are quite positive. It includes a lot of nice features (and all for free) like mobile clients, web media streaming, and windows drive mounting to name a few.

Thanks Capt'n! I had never heard of Tonido before however it seems like a nice addition with just one caveat, during file indexing, my server's processor is running flat out. For the first time in almost four years, I wonder if I should have built a faster server?  :o

Didn't have any excessive CPU use during indexing myself (and I also run Folding@Home full-time), but you could always look at the following to use CPU pinning:

I just rebooted and now all is normal and Tonido is running smoothly. I'm not sure what was causing it but if it happens again I will dig into it. I am liking Tonido so far. Thanks for making this available.

I'm testing but i don't know how to control user home directory and permissions :(

I want to create multiple user with diferents home directory and shared directorys between users.

Look at the Tonido wiki or forums for multiuser instructions

or

Just run multiple Tonido containers on different ports to allow different users!!

Has anybody tried it and owncloud to the point they can compare and contrast the two?

What I see so far.

OwnCloud supports more granular user based management.

Tonido seems to be a simpler product, easier to set  up and access remotely.

but I'm sure there are many more differences.

This looks a good alternative/companion to owncloud, is there anyway to run it using my own domain or do I need to use a tonido address?

You can of course just use a dynamic DNS service and set it to point to the IP address of the computer on which Tonido is running (but you'll need to forward ports).

See http://www.tonido.com/blog/index.php/2012/06/28/how-to-run-tonido-in-stand-alone-mode-without-relay/ and http://www.tonido.com/support/display/docs/Tonido+Biz

I'll take a look there, thanks for posting the links.

I seem to be too stupid for this setup in the template I inserted into /unRaid /mnt/user/music which is one of my shares but in Tonido it does not find anything under /mnt

Am I doing something completely wrong?

Do you mean that you have /unRaid as the container volume and /mnt/user/music as the host path? If so, then Tonido will see it under /unRAID.

If that is not what you mean, then post your volume mappings.

I am testing between ownCloud and this service and I got it working and I can reach the webgui from CLEAR NET.

I installed the windows client on the pc outside of my home network and uploaded one file. However when i check the share i created for it to sync files there's nothing. Yet the page states that files were uploaded.

Im including some screenshots, maybe you can tell me why its not really saving to my share.

Anyone else having the same issues

Could you do the following:

1: SSH into your unRAID server and post the output of the following commands

ls- la /mnt/user
ls -la /mnt/user/Tonido

2. Enter the following commands (one after the other) and post the outputs:

docker exec -it Tonido /bin/bash
ls -la /unRAID
