I just got back from the shop and it dawned on me why you're not able to log in, you may have the earlier iteration of this where i cocked up the if routine to check for existing files.

delete everything in the local config folder, delete the entire container, re-add with fresh config.

as for the email sending, i can send out stuff using gmail.smtp after setting it up in the webui for this.

I fixed it had to use a different email and password the email I was using was not allowing it to go for some reason. Could be because I have another instance on another server of the same network maybe.

So it looks like urbackup still needs to be created anyone care to take a look and see if they can get it working correctly?

urbackup is a special case, i would recommend that nobody uses it until it has been checked out thoroughly, because of the btrfs snapshot feature of the program it modifies the underlying docker.img file, which is a big no no.

What about syncrify sparklyballs do you think that could work it can do almost the same thing as urbackup just requires a paid version to do baremetal backups

If I installed this VM philipz/docker-ubuntu-xrdp-desktop · GitHub do anyone for see a problem installing urbackup and Simple-Help onto it?

within an unraid environment i would hold fire on anything to do with urbackup until the extent of what it does to the underlying docker.img file has been fully evaluated.

because the docker.img file system is btrfs the delivery method is immaterial.

if you really wish to implement this asap i would advise an actual VM rather than a docker.

on another note, i'm getting feedback from dev at urbackup about possibility of varying some of the database locking to make a docker more persistent.

That sounds great I will wait to see your development I am willing to donate for these completed docker items I appreciate all of your hard work

  • 3 weeks later...

I created a Syna man docker to test it out, and am getting the same user login error you got "Invalid userid or password:".  Admin & admin will not work.

I tried to send an email to allow the password to reset.  That also failed with a " Unable to send email due to an internal server error. "

How did you solve this tj?

If I remember correctly I redid the docker and used another email address to link with the admin account and that worked for me.

Is this your first time loading the docker?

Yes, it's my first try with Syna man.  Was using a hotmail account.

Ok I would blow away the config files and docker reinstall the docker and try with a diffrent email

Done, blew it away and recreated with a gmail account this time.  Still the same error

Unable to login with the admin password, and unable to reset the password due to the following error...

-Unable to send email due to an internal server error.

Also unable to login using the gmail account as the admin login.  Now I have temporarily locked myself out  :-(

The other thing I just thought is where do you have the config files stored is there write access to it?

In Sparky's video, when setting up the password, make sure to uncheck the option to only log in from localhost.  If you do not, you will not be able to login at all.

That is the Open Sesame....

I am comparing Synaman with Tonido and OwnCloud, looking for a DropBox file syncronization replacement that can scale to tb sized shares with 100,000 files.  The problem with Dropbox is that it won't work in China, so I have to use Cloudme today.  However the Snowden part of me isn't ready to trust TB sized stashes of proprietary data to the cloud, hence the search for a self hosted solution.

So far I have gotten the furthest with Tonido.  Synaman, while it's file sharing is good, doesn't look like it will maintain a local syncronized copy on a Windows, or Mac client.

I see Pydio (from Ajax explorer) is also becoming available via Sparky's beta Docker repo.  So many choices.

I like synaman because it's simple and easy to use I have not had to many issues with it that was a software issue and I have stored tb of data on it iso videos pictures ect

  • 4 months later...

I've been trying to get Syncrify working from the template over at Dockerhub https://hub.docker.com/r/pducharme/syncrify/~/dockerfile/ but the app seems to die straight after the launch. The log looks like this:

Starting Sycrify Incremental Backup Solution...
Removed stale pid file: /var/run/Syncrify/Syncrify.pid
:lib/SyncrifyServer.jar:lib/ant-launcher.jar:lib/ant.jar:lib/gwt-user.jar:lib/mail.jar:lib/tools.jar:lib/wrapper.jar

repeated for each start. The template seemed to be missing a config location so I added a /config to my 'appdata' share, this didn't fix it but I assume this needs to be added in to the template somehow?

Did anybody ever get this working?
