Access preclear vterm sessions via telnet?

Featured Replies

I've started a bunch of preclear vterm sessions on the console (per the suggestions) and they are each happily preclearing the drives.  The server is in a different room, I'd like to access those sessions remotely to check on them.  Is there a way to remotely access a console session that is already running to check status?

Thanks!

Jeff...

"Screen -d" should detach from one terminal session and  "screen -r" to reattach from another. This assumes you are using screen which allows pre clears to keep running if the terminal session is lost.

Check out screen.

I must admit I thought that since the preclears were being run from console sessions then screen was probably not in use.    If that is the case you cannot view the precelear sessions remotely unless you have an IPMI capable motherboard (which allows console/bios messages to be seen over the network).

unMenu allows pre-clears to be monitored via http.

Agree with dgaschk => just install UnMenu and you can view the status of the pre-clears via the Web GUI

Just follow the instructions here:  http://code.google.com/p/unraid-unmenu/

You do not need to reboot your server to do this, so you can do it now and then you'll be able to monitor your current pre-clears
