No longer getting notification of update threads

Featured Replies

About two weeks ago, I stopped getting e-mail notifications of thread updates.  I even went so far as to change my notification e-mail address.  (I had to have Tom reactivate my account because I didn't the verification e-mail after changing!)  I used Yahoo mail and then switched to an Insight account (now part of Time-Warner).  Is anyone else having this issue?

Same here!  Except it started about one week ago, about midday on April 15.  Some time around then, I modified my signature, but can't say for sure if that is what caused it.  I've toggled a number of things since, but still no email notifications.  The one benefit was that it meant I missed all of the non-announcements in the Announcement thread, just before beta15!

This happened once before long ago, and it finally restarted but only after I made lots of changes and changed emails a couple of times, something I'm loathe to do again.  I never figured out what finally got it working then.

Hmm, will have to investigate this.

I've seen this as well ... but it "magically" started working again after a couple days.  I don't recall exactly which days, but it was about a week ago.

Be sure to check to see  if your e-mail provider has been dropped from a 'white list' or added to a 'blacklist'.

That would certainly explain this => and these lists are pretty dynamic, so if you were temporarily on a list, but somebody complained and they took you off, it would cause exactly what we've seen happen.

I'd think, however, that if this happened they would have notified you guys.

I would suspect that EXACTLY the opposite is true.  Remember these lists are targeting the guys who are sending thousands of e-mail per hour which contain unsolicited advertisements or malware/Social Engineered messages.  Why would you want to alert them that you are on to them?

Didn't mean they'd notify you if they blacklisted you => but if they did that; then recognized their mistake and took you off; I'd hope they'd have the courtesy to let you know they'd temporarily had you on their list.

Perhaps not, however, as that would require a bit of common courtesy that is often missing these days.

I am not sure how these lists work, or how many there are, or how the individual lists get propagated. .  All I know is that I basically I haven't gotten a notification for last four days. And it has been very sporadic for a couple of weeks now.  I kept the last one I got and it was sent on April 18th.  It was the only one that I got that day and mostly likely on that day I should have had six or seven.

I am receiving email notifications again, so appears to be working, at least for me.  Thank you, Tom and Jon.

Appears to be fix for me also.  Thanks for getting to this issue so promptly!

Glad to hear it!  We're actually still investigating this further as it appears there still may be some that don't get notified.

Mine seem to be coming in very consistently now.  Hope you get it resolved for everyone  :)
