June 19, 200917 yr an fyi for those who install additional packages. (I read this from another thread but figured I would post a unique topic for it). There is a new package standard for the latest -current version of slackware (13). I would highly recommend using a package for the current slackware we are using However if you want to be on the bleeding edge, you can also download the xz package then the latest pkgtoolls The latest pkgtools will support the .tgz and the new .txz if you have xz installed. xz http://packages.slackware.it/package.php?q=current/xz-4.999.8beta-i486-1 pkgtools. http://packages.slackware.it/package.php?q=current/pkgtools-13.0-noarch-1 Another choice is to download the xz package. Uncompress the .txz file then recompress it with gzip and name it as .tgz Example: xz -dc subversion-1.6.2-i486-1.txz | gzip -c > subversion-1.6.2-i486-1.tgz Please keep in mind, this does not mean or imply that slackware-13 software will run on your unRAID 4.5 system and below. It's recommended to keep within the current version of slackware that unRAID was built with. Further Reading http://linux.com/community/blogs/Slackware-Package-Format-Changed.html
