April 24, 201511 yr Community Expert Since XFS is the new default file system, what tools are available to repair disks and recover data? Are any tools included with version 6 to do this? (If not, LimeTech, are there any plans to include any?) A quick search via Google revealed that there are some commercial products out, but I did not find any freeware type tools. Does anyone know of any?

April 25, 201511 yr Community Expert xfs_repair is included as standard. Whether this is as good on XFS as reiserfsck was for ReiserFS at recovering from severe corruption I have no idea.
April 25, 201511 yr Author Community Expert xjs_repair is included as standard. Whether this is as good on XFS as reiserfsck was for ReiserFS at recovering from severe corruption I have no idea. Entered xjs_repair pm Command line and found got a "command not found" message from bash. Google that command and found a lot of references for the car model made by Jaguar! (That model must been one of ones that made Jaguar famous for making cars that spent more time in the shop than on the road! ) Then decided your command looked odd when viewed from a Linux/UNIX perspective and tried xfs_repair and that worked. Thanks for pointing us in the right direction! Now to locate a set of instructions... Found this link: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37670_01/E37355/html/ol_repair_xfs.html And xfs_db is also included in unRAID as another tool. Evidently, xfs_Db is normally used with a script file xfs_admin (also included in unRAID) which apparently is suppose to take some of the mystery out of the process. Gut feeling is that repair of XFS disks and file systems is going to have a real learning curve!
