Hi I have just precleared two new drives to add to my unraid server.

when i stop the array i was it lists parity and disks 1-5.

the problem is it should list disks 1-6. Anyway, i added and formatted one of the precleard

disks to disk no5. i am unable to add the last disk.

Does anyone have any experience of this and how to resolve it?

Thanks,

Hi trurl, I have the Plus licence.

Running unraid server 5.x

Id like to add that when i stop the parity and click on the down arrow of any of the disk (inc parity) i see the other disk listed. So it isnt a case of unraid not seeing the disk...

cheers

Do you have a cache disk?  If so then parity+cache+5xdata would mean you have reached the limit of the Plus license on v5 at 7 drives.  In that case you would need to update to the Pro license to get more drives allowed.

Note that v6 increases the drive limit for the Plus license by 1 to 8 total drives.

no cache disk. although it will allow me to use the drive as one...

Just checked the license limits here in the wiki and it appears that on v5 you are limited to 5 data drives on the Plus license.

Depending on what your future plans are you might want to either look at updating to the Pro license, or alternatively moving to v6 where the Plus license allows for 8 drives in any usage combination you want as documented here (maybe this page needs to make it clear that the limit of 7 drives for v5 only allows for 5 of them to be data drives).

hi itimpi. now that would explain it then. i agree, not overly clear as i presumed i had paid for the ability to use 6 of the 7 drives for raid storage when i purchased the plus licence.

thanks for your help.

Well if you decide to move to v6 then you will be able to have 7 data drives + parity on the Plus license if you are prepared to do without a cache drive.
