April 27, 201511 yr As topic. I find it more reliable to issue a SYNC before umount. The internet suggests this is not needed anymore but anecdotally I find less issues if you do (citation?) However as I understand it there is no way to issue a SYNC for a specific mount point meaning the entire array will spin up. This is fine in a desktop or small server but in a wide unRAID array this is far less than ideal Thoughts/options?
May 1, 201511 yr Just a comment, not a helpful one though. I have always found it unbelievable that there is no way to sync a single device only. What happens when you pull a USB device, or a drive in a hot swap slot? I cannot believe that no one anywhere has been able to figure out how to sync a single device. Just need to find the info, because someone somewhere must have figured it out by now!
May 1, 201511 yr Author Yeah I have to agree it should be far more obvious what is needed to be done here. Google foo failing
