Superorb
Hello. The CPU in my server is always running at full clock, and the fan is always making tons of noise. My server sits idle 95% of the time, probably more. I work from home and the server is next to my desk, so I'd love to quiet it down a bit. How do I lower the clock on the CU when it's idle and also lower the fan speed? Setup is in my sig. Quote Link to comment
trurl
Have you checked your BIOS? Do you know which fan is making the noise and how it's powered? Quote Link to comment
Superorb
It's the CPU fan. I couldn't find anything in the BIOS to slow the fan or slow the CPU clock. Quote Link to comment
Chugiak
UnRAID 5.0 should have the AMD Cool'nQuiet support already. Read up on this thread http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12292.0 for info about how to drop CPU frequency. Quote Link to comment

Read up on this thread http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12292.0 for info about how to drop CPU frequency. Thanks. So according to that thread my CPU is dynamically clocking up and down, and it settles at 800mHz now. BUT, the fan does not ramp up/down, it just stays at full power all the time. ETA: I figured it out, there was a funky BIOS setting that kept the fan from changing speed. Quote Link to comment
Superorb
Ok, this is weird... While logged i through Putty I'm seeing 800mHz, but the CPU info button on unRAID is saying 2700mHz. How could it be both at the same time? Quote Link to comment
