May 2, 201511 yr I am currently running Unraid 5.x using a nearly 10 year old Athlon xp setup. My current desktop is a i5-3570k. I would like to upgrade my desktop to an i7, then move my i5 to the new unraid server (get it set up and running using 6, then move my drives over after its working.) My concern is that the i5 i have only supports vtx, not vtd. How much of a concern is this? I would like to run a virtual windows 7 or 8 desktop, not for working on, but to host calibre and YACreader (comic reader / server). Dropbox as well, since it seems that my plugin based dropbox is kind of flaky. Would my i5 work for this, or should I instead purchase an i3 thats VTD capable. currently running plex, Pytivo for transcoding to tivo, sab, sickbeard, headphones, and couchpotato.

Have you looked at the wiki in my signature with respect to hardware requirements for virtualization?
