June 23, 200917 yr [i'm new here (just look at my icon) and I assume from reading the forum that "Tom" is the owner of Lime Technology. Let me know if I've assumed wrong.] I'm considering buying a server from Lime Tech to replace an old one I put together a year or so ago and I used the Lime Tech Company/Contact web page to send a question about shipping vs. pickup. I haven't heard back in several days. Is Tom on vacation? Is Lime Tech closed? Is the web page mailer broken? (there's no indication that anything is actually sent.) Am I too impatient? Thanks for listening. Robert
June 24, 200917 yr Tom was last on June 19th. I think his work takes him around the country. He'll catch up. Try sending a direct email to [email protected]
June 24, 200917 yr Author Thank you. I will try his direct email. Sorry to take up forum space for a personal matter. I hope to be able to make a more useful contribution in the near future. Robert
June 24, 200917 yr Tom often goes on long posting droughts with this one currently running at about a month and a half. I am sure their are valid reasons but IMHO with no flames intended and as i have posted several times before someone from Limetech should be regularly posting and supporting users on these the official support forums. Again with no flames intended and purely my own professional option is the difference between a proper company and a small company support.
June 26, 200917 yr Author Thanks for the info. I never heard back from my various attempts to contact Tom and LimeTech about buying a server from him. So my money went to New Egg this morning for all the individual pieces of his MD-1510/LC server. - I actually saved a few hundred over the cost of a completed system -- some components are on sale and most have free shipping - at least they did this morning. I'll very likely buy an unRaid Pro key once I get the hardware all set up and working with the free version. I'm hoping the key sales are automated, so I don't have the same problem I had buying a key that I had trying to buy a server. I have to admit I've been a bit disappointed with my experience so far, but I have a lot of good will for the UnRaid Server OS project, and the obviously helpful folks on this forum. I see all the effort that went into making this whole thing work and keep it working and I'm very encouraged. I'm looking forward to a short, successful build and a long, successful up-time. Also hope to be able to contribute here. When I'm not watching movies or listening to music on my new unRaid server. Robert

December 12, 200916 yr Sorry to dig up this old thread, it took Tom some 5-10min to email me the key!
December 12, 200916 yr I haven't been so lucky. 9 days or so and counting waiting on a quote and pre-sales questions I'd like to say its the holidays and I have no patience
December 13, 200916 yr I haven't been so lucky. 9 days or so and counting waiting on a quote and pre-sales questions I'd like to say its the holidays and I have no patience Since he's been posting pretty regularly lately, you might try a reminder e-mail. Odds are the first (or his response) ended up blocked by some spam filter. Joe L.
December 13, 200916 yr Author Sorry to dig up this old thread, it took Tom some 5-10min to email me the key! I got my key (primary and backup) very quickly. I never received any reply at all to my original questions about purchasing one of the server configurations advertised on his web site. So I built my own. I've finally maxed out at 26 terabytes, easier to do now that 2 TB drives can be found for $139. 15 drives - 13 data, 1 parity, 1 cache -- all the drives my case can hold. Robert

I know I have the right email as it was a 2nd set of questions from is response but possibly lost agin. I'll keep trying though.

Robert That's the part that is worrying me a bit. ie, I don't want this to be another science project for myself so I'm wondering what sort of help I can expect if I have a real problem if I can't get a quote. I'm hoping its being lost somewhere.
December 13, 200916 yr Please send a private message on the board. I'm sure he'll see it. For those who have purchased systems, the feedback on support for them seems to be very satisfied.
