interwebtech
Maybe a plug-in since it doesn't have any special dependencies? And an email alert when it done or having problems Link to comment
trurl
There was an attempt to do this with Simplefeatures a few years ago. Maybe bonienl can comment. Link to comment

aptalca
In the unraid gui, when I hover over a drive outside of the array, check out the url link it is displaying. It opens a blank page but is that a sign that limetech is planning on adding this soon? Link to comment

Though Limetech has put native preclear support on their roadmap under version 6.2 ... Link to comment
aptalca
Ahh, that explains it. Unfortunately 6.2 will probably be released in 2018 judging by LT's track record I kid, I kid But, seriously. . . j/k not Link to comment
bonienl
Perhaps ask for a update in the topic: unRAID Project Roadmap Announcements ... Who knows, perhaps there are positive surprises !? Link to comment
ironicbadger
Didn't simplefeatures used to show the pre-clear progress of a drive? I'm not getting this with dynamix. Link to comment
bonienl
Didn't simplefeatures used to show the pre-clear progress of a drive? I'm not getting this with dynamix. The preclear progress indicator is still in. Dynamix (SF) looks for the file /tmp/preclear_stat_<device> and if existing it will print its contents (this is the progress information supplied by the preclear script). To make the progress information visible, the drive must be listed under the "Unassigned Devices" though. Link to comment
ysss
Might as well make a GUI (web or X) for preclear that shows progress bar and ETA of whole process.. and make it multi-tab, in case user needs to run preclear on multiple drives at the same time, it can all be viewed from a single place. Another observation is that the dashboard CPU utilisation doesnt seem to match what I get in htop, at all. Link to comment
sparklyballs
it's always shown for me on the unassigned devices tab, although since dynamix i've only ever precleared a drive with the array started, which is kind of one of the points of preclear script, to allow clearing of drives while the array is live. ironicbadger
... to allow clearing of drives while the array is live. Yes but unRAID trashed my partition tables for me, so I have no array. I can't imagine I'd be alone in wanting this to show up even when the array isn't running? Think of a new user for example... They'd have no data either and be in a similar position to me. sparklyballs
Yes but unRAID trashed my partition tables for me and i bet you never thanked them , lol. but to be fair though, if someone can iniatate a preclear via terminal and screen, they can get progress there if the array is offline. Link to comment

Isn't unassigned devices tab (section) a plugin? Or is just the ability to mount unassigned devices the plugin and the tab (section) shows up anyway? Doesn't seem to be in the screenshot.
