opentoe
A few times my SanDisk Cruzer indicated corruption and every time I did a scandisk on it, came back fine. It has been running in the server since about 2010-2011. It is hard to tell if the USB stick is going bad or not, since after I reboot it works fine. To be on the safe side I want to transfer my license to the new SanDisk Cruzer that I have. I read there was a utility that would give me the UID from a Windows program, but can't find it now. Also, what is the process to transfer the license to the new one? NOTE: I will be buying a new PRO license eventually when I start my new build, if this has any significance at all. Thanks. Best and easiest way to get the GUID is copy your present Flash drive to the new one. 1-- Stop the array from the 'Main' page, 'Array Operations' tab. 2-- On the 'Settings' page, under the 'Disk Settings', disable "Enable Auto Start'. (You can re-enable after you make the copy.) 3-- Copy the entire contents of your flas drive to the new one. 4-- Run the make the Flash bootable:. From Windows XP, just double-click the make_bootable file. From Windows 7 or later, right-click the file and select ‘Run as Administrator’. From Mac devices, double-click the file ‘make_bootable_mac’ and enter your admin password when prompted. NOTE: during the process of running this script, the flash device may seem to disappear and reappear on your workstation a few times – this is expected behavior. 5--- Shutdown your server, put the new Flash in and restart. It will probably complain about the .key file but the only thing you want is to get the GUID. (Remember the Enable Auto Start is now disabled so nothing will happen to the array.) Copy the GUID and paste it into your e-mail. Shut the server down again and swap Flash Drives. Now when you get your new .key file, simply replace the old .key file in the config folder on the new Flash with the new one and you will be ready to go. Link to comment

I think this process should be a sticky if it is not already. Saving it myself. Thanks again! Link to comment

Don't trust any Windows utility to get the uid of a new flash drive. Install unraid on it and check in unraid itself on the flash page. Then contact Tom and explain what happened. Limetech has always been very helpful and cooperative. When you receive the new key in the mail, you can simply copy it to the config folder on your flash drive. Link to comment
