Read speed benchmark for unRaid

Featured Replies

Hi,

What is the read speed for the latest version of unRaid NAS? Is there an URL that I can look at for this benchmark?

What happens if there is a power cut when rebuilding a disk? Do I need a UPS?

And finally is the read speed good enough for streaming HD video's over the LAN?

Thanks much

Variations of this question often come up, but it is very hard to answer, because it depends on so many variables.  I took a stab at answering it, but in a very general way, probably not what you are hoping for.  Please see "How fast is unRAID?" in the FAQ.  I just opened some discussion of this here.

Usually, you would need to start the rebuild again, should not be any other problems, normally.  We are here to help and advise.

Do I need a UPS?

Any NAS or file server should be on a UPS, and some would say that it is a good idea for all computing equipment.  unRAID uses the Reiser file system with journaling, which does have good protection across crashes and power outages.

Most users do, multiple streams.
