Seagate reliability on the 8TB model ! ?

I was checking the Seagate 8TB drive specifications out and noticed that the reliability / data integrity specs are pretty low. Rated workload indicates only 180TB per year. Also, what really concerns me is the power on hours, which is only 8750 hours. That is very low. I checked my power on hours on my current drives and they are all over 20,000 hours. I used the smartctl command to check on the power on hours. This indicates to me that this 8TB drive will not stand up over time. Is this correct to think this way? Yes, I have to keep my server on 24/7 and I do want it on/spinning 24/7. I hope I'm wrong about this because 8760 hours is a pinch compared to what my current drives have.

The power-on hours rating is per year => 24/7 operation yields 8760 hours (not sure why they would show 8750 -- I suspect they just rounded it to the nearest 50, but clearly they're rated for 24/7 operation)

 

180,000TB/year workload (they're rounded again) is a 500GB/day workload.    That's over 20GB/hour ... 24 hours per day !!    Or 60GB/hr if you use the system 8 hrs/day.    I rather doubt that's a significant limitation !!

Ahh, ok. Sigh of relief. For some reason I was thinking lifetime of the drive. I just noticed I have a couple 1TB drives with over 30,000 hours. This was the main reason for buying the WD Black models for that 5 year warranty. Too bad the Seagate's don't have a 5 year. Eventually WD will come out with an 8TB Black model and it will be very expensive, but 5 years warranty I assume. Thanks for clarifying. :)
