June 29, 200917 yr Does anybody know if unRAID can be configured for use as an OS X Time Machine drive? I have a QNAP TS-409 than can be made to work as a Time Machine drive but I'd be interested to see if unRAID could be made to do the same.
June 29, 200917 yr Time Machine requires Apple Filing Protocol, which unRAID does not (yet) support though I believe some folks are looking into adding it. Search for AFP.
June 30, 200917 yr You can bodge time machine to run on a samba / cifs share. http://hupio.wordpress.com/2008/04/27/osx-timemachine-and-sambawindows-share/ for one of many places google returns. As such I see no reason why it wouldn't work in unraid - although I have never tried. I had it working on a Windows 2008 server share. Probably best to make sure it lands on one disk at the unraid end though to avoid spin up delays whilst it writes across the (many) files it uses as its format.
