Strange behavior of the WebUI since upgrade from 5.05 to 6b15

Featured Replies

I was on 5.05 and everything was working fine. Wanted to upgrade to v6 for the Docker feature and add some extra services to my server (Tonido, kodi-mariadb).

Did not want to cause any issue mixing my v5 configs with v6b15, so did a backup of my USB drive, formatted it and installed v6-b15 on it.

First boot, everything went well, did my configs, had access to all the icons in the WebUI. And get that message on top of the WebUI:

The issue began when I started the array. I will loose the icons on the top of each and every tabs (attachment), Dashboard, Main, Shares, Users, Settings, Plugins, Stats and Tools.

Warning: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting TC_DOLLAR_CURLY or TC_QUOTED_STRING or '"' in state/sec.ini on line 216

in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/template.php on line 34

Warning: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting ']' in state/shares.ini on line 67

in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/template.php on line 38

Warning: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting TC_DOLLAR_CURLY or TC_QUOTED_STRING or '"' in state/sec_nfs.ini on line 169

in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/template.php on line 39

If I stop the array, the icons will comeback.

Over the weekend, the 6-rc2 went out, so did the update to 6-rc2 and still the issue.

My shares are accessibles. The system is working. Except I can't get access to the Docker icon to do the setup since its only working when the array is started and all the others top icons at the top  of each tabs.

In the web browser of my cell phone and tablet (Android), if I scroll down the page (on landscape view) I will be able to see some of the icons for a second, but I wont be able to select them because they will disappear as soon that I will leave my finger from scrolling.

Did many attemps, installed plugins from the UI ( while the array was stopeed) and from the command line (installplg), the plugins icons I will see because they install at the bottom of the page. Redid my flash drive from my laptop (maybe a bad download), no change.

What is the link with the array starting and a component of the webui?

Why did you start a new thread about this? And you haven't even linked to the original thread so people can see what has already been tried.

Boot in SAFE mode and post a syslog.

See here for the original thread about this.

Its a plugin that's causing havoc.  When you upgraded, did you remove all plugins and packages that were automatically being installed (basically none of them are compatible with v6 -> there are replacements available however)

trurl: I wanted to put all the informations in one post, it was too confusing.

Squid: No plugins were left on the USB drive, I formatted it. So its a clean install.

I must install a monitor on my server to boot in safe-mode, after work, I'll do it and post the syslog.

Still waiting for a syslog

  • Community Expert

This is the same syslog he posted in his other thread. This is the reason we have been trying to get him to boot in SAFE mode.

BOOT IN SAFE MODE and post a NEW syslog.

Or try a fresh install with no plugins, post a syslog, then if you still have problems, boot in safe mode and post another syslog.

I finally installed Firefox browser and it resolved the issue of the hiding icons.

For the error messages, it is still a mystery.

What browser were you using? I already asked on the other thread, but that was before you got rid of plugins. Did you clear your browser cache?

Many times, I cleared the cache, and it did not work on Chrome and IE. But works well on Firefox.

Just to be clear though, did you actually try clearing the browser cache when you booted in SAFE mode?

Working fine for me in Chrome.

Yes, clear cache multiple times.

  • 2 months later...

Fixed it, deleted bad user shares.
