May 25, 201511 yr Hello; Yesterday I've installed Unraid v6 on a new system and I'm learning what/where is located in the menus and how to use it. The interface looks great - and I can't wait to use the new virtualization features. A a couple of things which I came across: I couldn't set the APCUPS as SLAVE from the menu. I had to go to the command line/terminal session to change the conf file to the following configuration and everything worked well - including showing now the options in the menu. root@Tower2:/boot/config/plugins/dynamix.apcupsd# cat *cfg SERVICE="enable" UPSCABLE="ether" CUSTOMUPSCABLE="" UPSTYPE="net" DEVICE="192.168.20.1:3551" BATTERYLEVEL="15" MINUTES="15" TIMEOUT="300" KILLUPS="no" SHOWFULLSTATUS="yes" root@Tower2:/boot/config/plugins/dynamix.apcupsd I noticed that when I restarted the server the daemon didn't start (even if the option to start was "Yes") I had to manually change Start APCUPS Daemon to "No", Apply, and then set it to "Yes", Apply again, and the daemon has started. The server was set to start the array manually - if of any relevance. And the network connection to the server was down. I reconnected the network after about 5 min, and all other network related functions I checked appeared to work properly. Unrelated to the above ...I spent some time with the notifications and I still have to figure out how to get the email setup with hotmail. The test gives me "No response from server". If anyone is using hotmails smtp server - pls advise of your settings. Thank you. Additional edit: I've rebooted the server. Unlike earlier report, this time I had a network connection in place. I kept the "Enable autostart" = "No" in Disk settings. I checked and APCups still dindn't come up on its own after reboot. This time I noticed also my second cache drive dissapeared from the Main screen. I've been able to add it back to the config (the array was not started). Set Enable autostart = "Yes" and rebooted server. The cache drives now showed both up after reboot, in the Main screen. APCUPS daemon still down - not running. Changing "Start APC UPS daemon" to "No" and "Yes" and pressing Apply each time brings it up.
May 25, 201511 yr I'm not seeing any issue with the settings. Which one didn't change? The ups not starting after a reboot is a known issue and fixed in the next release.
May 25, 201511 yr Author The ups not starting after a reboot is a known issue and fixed in the next release. That's essentially what I reported. Didn't know it was already caught. Thanks for taking the time. Additionally - if the intention is to include also the ability to setup a SLAVE configuration in the Web UI, that wasn't there when I first loaded the system. I had to edit the config file manually. Not belonging into this thread: (1) It may be worthwhile checking if the cache pool config problem is indeed a problem (not retaining configuration after reboot, with the array stopped) (2) is anyone able to use hotmail successfully as smtp server for notifications (is there a setup issue?) Thank you hg
May 25, 201511 yr I was able to set your configuration. EDIT: This setting is no longer used. SHOWFULLSTATUS="yes" Do you have the apcupsd plugin installed? If so, remove it from the plugins and re-boot. The UPS settings is built-in now and you will not see a apcupsd plugin. The older plugin will overwrite the built in UPS Settings causing confusion.
May 25, 201511 yr Author Thank you, dlandon. No other plugins. I formated and installed v6 from scratch, but then I restored config folder from backup, overwriting v6 config. But I checked and there was nothing there to worry about. Thank you.
