Server Layout Plugin for unRAID v6

You've not yet been able to find a fix for this one?:

 

I experience a problem which I haven't seen reported by anyone else, so I wonder whether I'm the only person affected.

 

On the 'Layout' tab, there's a pop-up (do you call it a tooltip?), which provides detailed info about the drive in the tray over which the mouse pointer is positioned.

 

My problem is that this pop-up is only visible for the right-most trays.  As the mouse pointer moves to the trays further left, the pop-up moves further right - this results in it moving out of the current window and becoming invisible (unless you have a very wide display window/screen).

 

I'm using FF38.0.5 on ArchLinux.  My trays are configured in a 3 row/5 column layout in vertical orientation.

 

As an aside, I do wonder whether this plugin ought to be accessed from the 'Tools' page, rather than the 'Settings' page.

All drives connected to my Areca ARC-1231ML do not show up as available for setup. Once you have them, another issue will arise... my parity volume occupies 2 slots :) Its a RAID0 of 2x4TB HGST.

 

The ARECA returns different fields than regular disks do - I hope it is fixed.

 

Please try the attached file and report back the results - screenshot of the DATA tab on the serverlayout plugin.

I have no way of testing it myself.

 

Rename the file extension to ".txt" and place the file in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/serverlayout/php/

 

If it works I will update the plugin.

Howdy, and thank you for the all of the work you have put into this.

 

I don't know if you are interested in adding this, especially since it's a changeable variable per session and because it's probably only useful for troubleshooting.  But you can find the ata numbers for some of the drives with the lsscsi -vgl command (they are in the middle of the path displayed).  There are problems, they are only available for standard disk controllers (like onboard ports and controllers that use AHCI), not drives on SAS or other non-standard controllers.  And technically, they are the channel ata numbers, not the full ata device symbols, so there may be multiple drives with the same ata number if it's on an IDE channel, or port multiplier, or other multi drive channel (with SCSI ID's like sd 8:0:0:0 and sd 8:0:1:0).

I think that because you are using a U3 USB stick it is showing up as both a USB device and a CD/DVD ROM device with the same serial number.

Hey Guys,

I seem to have a similar problem to those early on that experienced drives not showing up.  In my case I believe the issue relates to my use of SAS drives.  The discovery string "ata-" works fine for my cache SSD, but I believe i need an additional "if else" statement to identify SCSI (i.e. "scsi-")

 

Any chance adding that is a possibility?

First off, Big thanks for the plugin and especially for working to add a fix for this non-typical device type.  It is very much appreciated.

 

So... I now see one of the SAS devices on the "Data" page. Yaaaay!!!  But, not the other 7 that are currently installed.  Here is what I have done so far:

1 - updated Server Layout plugin (SAS drive sde shows up on data page)

2 - rebooted & clicked "update Smartmontools Database" (sde is still present but no other SAS drives)

2 - updated unRaid to 6.1.3 & reboot & clicked "update Smartmontools Database" (sde is still present but no other SAS drives)

 

I should also note, and this is not related to this plugin, but I think it may be relevant.  When my array is started and the disks show 'green' on the Main page, I never see drive temps.  Also, when I select a disk from the main page it always says the SAS drives are "Unavailable - disk must be spun up".  When I select spin-up the page refreshes but nothing changes.  I think support of SAS drives in unRaid as a whole is minimal.

- EDIT -

I forgot to mention that even when drives show active all 'smart' option buttons are greyed out with the exception of the afore mentioned 'spin-up' and the 'download'.

Can you format your usb drive to remove the cdrom drivr partition?

Are you using an Areca controller?

 

 

Starting with the last question first then I will get to the outputs of the requested commands.  The controller is a SuperMicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8.  Not sure which firmware rev., but I will check when I have a chance.  I will also try adding a couple more SAS drives but connect them with a reverse cable directly to the MB SATA ports (been meaning to do that any way).

Trying out this plugin. Looks cool. Is the drive data supposed to auto populate or do you need to assign the drives manually in the data tab? Also with the Norco 4224 case, TRAY1/PORT1 is upper right and then goes towards the left. TRAY5 is second row all the way to the right, able to make those changes visible right?

 

Yes you have to manually assign the disks to trays.

As for the numbering it is just as a reference from the table to the preview layout on the data tab and should not be correlated to any physical HW.

 

Thanks. I did install the new update. Some of my drives are missing the "manufacturer" name. There are a few HGST's my two Samsung SSD's and one Western Digital. I could of sworn I saw those fields filled out when I last checked. Do they auto-populate somehow from the drive report(s)? Since port1/tray1 on the Norco 4224 is physically at the upper right of the chassis is there a way to move the drive layout boxes to reflect?

 

I did hit the button "updatesmartmontools" and that did populate the drive manufacture's except for one Western Digital drive.

Just wanted to say thanks, I love this plugin.

 

 

One feature request - some way to make the optical drive a separate breakout floating - sort of like the thumb drive?

 

I don't think so because they usually take up a slot/tray.

 

What you can do is define a larger array and hide some trays .

Starting with the last question first then I will get to the outputs of the requested commands.  The controller is a SuperMicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8.  Not sure which firmware rev., but I will check when I have a chance.  I will also try adding a couple more SAS drives but connect them with a reverse cable directly to the MB SATA ports (been meaning to do that any way).

The latest update fixed my issue!  You truly are THEONE!

 

All my SAS drives are now visible and can be assigned in the 'Data' tab.  Manufacturer, Model, S/N, Firmware and Capacity fields populate correctly.

 

Thank you once again for outstanding plugin and all the extra work to accommodate my particular use case.
