You guys should come down under! We could arrange to do a webcast about Unraid 7.0 from Mornington Peninsular here in VIC at Sunset over an ice bucket of Stubbies and a Bucket of prawns straight of the boat!! :-)

Unraid 7.0?! Do you normally plan things that far in advance?  ;)

A trip down under takes some planning! Plus such a trip would have to mark something monumental - like Dual Parity for v7.0?? ;-)

In fact I'll go as far as to say - if they promise Dual Parity for v7 and want to trip down under to celebrate - I'll buy the beer for whoever comes and bbq the prawns myself!!!

Incentive? :-)

are you offering to poison me ?

i'm allergic to seafood in general

You're English I know it!!! I've been here 10 years but I can spot one a mile off! Allergic to Seafood I ask you!! Sigh!! ;-)

I'll do you a well done burger, pie and peas with mash and chips with gravy (or baked beans if you're from up North!!)!! ;-)

baked beans for down south, chips and gravy is a northern thing.

Trying to watch on youtube and am told that "Your browser does not currently recognise any of the video formats available."  :(

Sorry PeterB. Please hang tight and try again shortly. YouTube takes a bit of time to transcode the files, and since the upload just completed, you may have to wait a bit. Try again in an hour or so.

I've updated the first post with the links and some screenies from the show.

Forget UnRAID !!

... might have to take you up on the Sutbbies and prawns, however  :)

Might have to extend my trip down that way a couple days next Feb !!

LOL...

@ 14:00 on the youtube video, what the hell is that moaning (twice)?  I thought Jon had a porn site open by accident when he started the screen sharing session.  :D  Or maybe Robbie needs to keep his hands above the desk.

mmmm @ 14:01

ohhhh @ 14:05

Either way...I liked it.  I keep rewinding.  8)

Sparkly, cover your ears.  This may send you off the deep end!

John

EDIT:  another @ 14:23

Hey johnodon - perhaps you should close Media Player  ;)

Never watched Category5.tv before, but this was awesome, lots of fun and of course very informative. Thank you!

The sounds you hear are definitely his co-host.

Breaking News..."unRAID Nerds' Heads Explode!!!"

The sounds you hear are definitely his co-host.

Some people just can't contain their excitement for unRAID 6.  Those were moans of passion for our product.

She was reading along in the chat room. It's likely she sighed or snickered every now and then  ;)  I felt bad to have stolen her spotlight for practically the whole show -- so at least she gave the forum something to gossip about.  Haha!

Ohmigosh, I can't believe jonp himself is feeding this beast!

Cheers! Thanks for watching. Hope you'll tune in again.

@JonP, just watching the video. I liked that you actually answered the questions even if it took a little while to get there. You remind me of myself, can talk for hours about something if you're excited about it. Also I love how you mention the community on multiple occasions and what they have done, not trying to pretend this was all you/Lime Tech. Great work. :)

We wanted to be sure and point that out, to even greater extent than Jon was able to in the limited time available.  There are many contributors who have been extremely instrumental in helping us get to this point, speedingant comes to mind as well as of course bonienl, gfjardim, dmacias, others (sorry if I missed you).

For heaven's sake Tom, give Sparklyballs a mention or he'll be moaning!

But yes, we realise that there are many of you helping bring us this, quite frankly, extraordinarily brilliant new version of Unraid and all of you deserve praise and recognition.

Haven't you missed someone else off the list as well....

Yourself, this was your baby remember!  ;)

Truth! I just read over our chat logs from last night and it was basically just a text list of Sparklyballs requesting on-air mentions. Now I feel like we need to name next week's show "Sparkly Balls" just to make up for it!

^^^ man has a plan

I watched Category5TV back in the early days (episode 103 was a major influencer in me building my first unRAID system)

I enjoyed last night a lot though I guess there was little really new in it, though it has inspired me to give Docker a whirl just as soon as my new memory arrives. Finally tracked down a bunch of disparate issues to a pair of bad 8GB sticks.

Well done all.

Your blog and your VM tuner setup was what bought me back to Unraid.  Docker is awesome, loving TVHeadEnd myself.

... always wanted to visit Australia. Seems like such a cool country.

Ditto.  In fact we bought a 3 1/2 week trip to Australia and New Zealand that we were supposed to take in Feb/March this year.    We were REALLY looking forward to it ... and then my wife fell in the shower the last week of January and fractured two of her vertebrae.  NOT fun ... it's been an excruciating 4 months.    All's reasonably well now, but we had to cancel a trip to our son's law school graduation (the day she fell);  the trip to Australia/NZ;  a 3 week trip to Europe we had planned for this month;  and a trip we were planning to the Galapagos Islands in August.

We're doing a couple cruises this fall, and plan to do all of the canceled trips next year, but life has a way of tossing some nasty curve balls at you every once-in-a-while !!    Fortunately I had purchased trip insurance, but cancelled non-refundable airplane tickets; penalties; non-refundable "stuff" (Visas, power adapters, etc.); still cost us more than a nice extra UnRAID server would have !!

How are you growing your money tree and where can i get seeds!! :o

That's nice to hear.

Sat down with Docker for the first time this evening and after an hour had Mochad and Apache set up and a quick and dirty .php script written to control all my X10 lights.

Much easier than expected!

:) :)

Just carefully water it for 30 years or so.  I always lived by the "85% rule" => i.e. pretend you're only making 85% of what you actually make -- save and invest the other 15% and NEVER touch those investments.    Doing this let me retire when I was 52 ... and my income from my investments is now well above what I ever made working, so we can pretty much do whatever we want.    It DOES require patience -- the "tree" took 30 years to grow  :)
