HiSoC8Y
Hi few days back, I heard a sound from the enclousure, and when i checked the drive status on the unRAID GUI, i saw that the parity drive is redballed. my system is up and running btw. on the GUI, status page, i see 164 errors for the parity drive. Can someone assist me? should i remove the parity drive and return it to the vendor for a replacement? attached is a copy of the logs unraid-parity-failed-log.txt Link to comment
RobJ
It's only a small part of the syslog, but there are errors evident related to the parity drive. It's too early to conclude the drive is bad without seeing the SMART report, so please see Obtain a SMART report. Link to comment
HiSoC8Y
I'm getting this error when trying to obtain SMART report btw, "sdu" is my parity drive that failed. Smartctl open device: /dev/sdu failed: No such device Link to comment
itimpi
I'm getting this error when trying to obtain SMART report btw, "sdu" is my parity drive that failed. Smartctl open device: /dev/sdu failed: No such device That suggests the drive has dropped offline for some reason. That would explain why you end up with write errors Often you have to reboot the system to get the drive back in such a scenario. As was mentioned if you can get the full syslog before rebooting it would allow us to give a more informed view of what happened. The problem could have been something external to the drive such as a power spike or bad connection on a sata/power cable and often the syslog where the error first occurs can help with identifying the root cause of the issue.
