June 12, 201511 yr Hi In case you loose a disk, I wouldn't know what content I had on that disk. Is there any script that can extract the tree of the folders on each disk, this way I will know if a disk failed that I lose specific data and try to restore them (assuming I don't have a parity drive). thanks
June 12, 201511 yr I developed such a script and it is working. I didn't have time yet to finish it completely. But it already gives you the content by disk and saves it as a txt file. It adds the current date to the txt file and you can switch from us to Europe date format. If you want I can send you a pm with the script. I take no responsibility if your server starts to catch fire or anything ;-) Before I release it to the public, I wanted to have a Linux guru here take a look at my script. This is just my second script and I am not a programmer by profession...
June 22, 201511 yr Author Hi Why dont you post it here, so the unraiders can examine it first before i run it? I hope it doesn't wipe out my data

I hope it doesn't wipe out my data I agree, when you're ready to post it here and we can have a look. I think it is a good idea to catalogue disks and this would prove useful. I'm not a programmer either but can often "read" scripts and get the general idea of what they're doing.
