Any have the ASROCK C2550D4I MB and able to run the Java Console

Recommended Posts

I've got two Win 8.1 systems and I can't run the Java Console for Server Redirection.  I tried both IE and Chrome and it won't work for either.  Oddly enough it works on my Win 7 work laptop.

Under Chrome when I click Java Console, nothing happens, it just sits there.  Under IE11 I get a pop for Open, Save, Cancel.  Just Open or Save doesn't work either.

I installed the last version of Java as of today.

What's funny is under IE 11, on the main Dashboard page, the java applet runs in the small window on the right hand side.  But when I go to Remote Control, Server Redirection, Java Console to view it full screen, it doesn't work.  I get the attached message.  Nothing works though.

Don't know anything about Java Security or how to change that.

I have had problems in the past. I think it also depends on which java/version you are using. I use Firefox and Oracle Java 8 in Linux Mint. It also works for me in Chrome.  Make sure you you have the latest bmc also. The was a version that had wrong certs or something. So you had to relax the security.

Thought I would also ask if anyone is using Sleep/WOL with this motherboard.  Curious as to how you did it.

I have the C2750 but I would image it's the same for the C2550. It doesn't support S3 sleep. Given that my board idles at about 25 watts with everything spun down, I was never worried about it. You could do it with ipmi commands using ipmitools. Power down the server then power on through ipmi or wol if that works.

You might also need to disable pop ups.

Edit: I meant enable pop-ups, disable pop up blocker

I disabled pop ups, added the url to my secure list, have the latest bmc.  Can't figure it out.  I have the latest version of java 8.  I opened a ticket with ASROCK tech support.  I guess we'll see what they say.

First I believe you should ENABLE pop ups. Then in the Java window you posted in Reply #4 klick on Save (you might need to wait a few seconds until it is enabled). If you get the Untrusted message you also need to go into the Java Control Panel under Security and add the IP to the Exception List.
