Plex Remote Access and TP LINK Archer C7 (AC1750)

Featured Replies

Anyone know the magic trick to get this router to allow me remote access (outside of LAN)?

Cross posted from plex forum..

Here's what I've tried:

Called Comcast to make sure my modem was not in bridge mode. All ports are clear and its not the issue.

Upgraded to latest firmware

set my plex server IP as a static reserve IP for DHCP

Set my plex server's IP as a 'virtual server' with port TCP/UDP open on 32400, 32410, 32412-14

Turned off NAT hardware (left on NAT)

Turned off UPNP

Disabled all Firewall, ALG and VPN 'security'

Turned off IPV6

Argh - worse case, I can return it...but there has got to be magic setting!

any help appreciated

noh

I had a problem getting plex to communicate to the outside.  I had opened port 32400, and yet Plex couldn't connect.  So I just manually specified the 32400 port and it worked like a charm.  Not sure if it'll work for you, but try manually specifying the port.
