JustinChase
I've moved into the mountains, and am severely limited in data now with my crappy, satellite internet. I do get unlimited data from midnight to 5am, so I want to set my torrenting client to only work during this time period. Deluge does not seem to offer such a configuration, so I'm looking for alternatives, and rather than just start installing dockers willy-nilly, I figured I'd seek feedback/suggestions first. I appreciate any guidance/suggestions on this. Thanks! Link to comment
trurl
I have transmission set to reduced speed between 05:30 and 00:00 when others may be using the internet and run full speed from 00:00 to 05:30 when everyone (except maybe me) is asleep. Link to comment
JustinChase
cool, so transmission will allow me to set speed/time then. I'll get it installed and see if I can get it setup. thanks!! Link to comment
breakline
I use deluge vpn docker from binhex and the scheduler seems to work great , I never used it before today but decided to try when I read this post. I have included some screen shots of the different states set in the scheduler and the speeds with each state. I thought I would have to install scheduler but all I had to do was enable it in the preferences . If you don't have a vpn or have other routes set then there is a non vpn one also. Link to comment
JustinChase
good find. I didn't have/see scheduler, but your post made me check plugins, then I saw and enabled it, and now I have it all setup. Thanks!! Link to comment
JustinChase
that didn't seem to work. It never unpaused, and didn't download anything last night. Link to comment

This is what I use. I throttle my bandwidth between 6am and 9pm since my wife works from home. 9pm to 6am I open the flood gates. John Link to comment
JustinChase
I'm guessing throttling might work, but actually pausing didn't seem to work for me. It might just be that I added the job paused, then set up scheduling, but I'm currently unable to get it to unpause. I'll keep mucking about and see if I can get it to work, if not, I'll throttle to 1kb/min and see how that goes Link to comment
Capt.Insano
RuTorrent includes a Web based Scheduler plugin. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=38698.0 Personally, I would have EDGE=1 to make sure you have the most up to date plugins for it. Link to comment

See attached. I'm wondering if maybe this torrent just isn't available right now. it's from the Formula 1 race a couple weeks ago. I usually grab them sooner than a couple weeks, so maybe that's the issue. I'll try to stay up and manually unpause it tonight and see if that works. Link to comment
mr-hexen
Post a screen shot of the bandwidth section too please. Link to comment
mr-hexen
If you can't get it to us pause tonight try throttled to zero instead. Link to comment
JustinChase
I think I've got it now. When I added the file originally, I paused it manually. The scheduler it seems won't/didn't override this action. Yesterday, I changed the scheduler to allow full speed, manually unpaused the file, waited until it connected and started downloading something, then turned the scheduler back to the screenshot, and the file paused automatically. Last night it downloaded about 1/2 the file, so it seems to be working now. Thanks for all the help Link to comment
mr-hexen
Thats a neat feature that transmission does not have (pausing). I usually set my limits to 100KB/s up/down until the "free hours" but I'm not in the same situation as you with regards to bandwidth via satellite. Link to comment
JustinChase
Good to know Transmission doesn't allow pausing. Now that I seem to have Deluge working for me again, I think I'll just stick with it for now. (sadly, it only downloaded 98% of my Formula1 race, so I have to wait until tomorrow to watch it) Link to comment
RivaSABB
Been using the uTorrent docker for weeks now and its very stable. Certainly does scheduling plus much more. Link to comment
mr-hexen
I used to be a die-hard transmission user. I setup scheduling and it just worked. Then I wanted to use a VPN service for torrents and found the DelugeVPN docker to met my needs perfectly. Link to comment
