Are you referring to the fact they do not show zero space used?  If so it has always been like this in that some space is allocated although the amount may well have changed with the new file systems.  When the disk is formatted with a file system then some space is used for the directory structures used by that file system.  The exact amount can vary according to disk size and format type.

Oh I know it uses SOME space, just stuck out at me the 1,01gb on both the 2tb and 3tb (XFS). I seem to remember it being like 300-400mb before (last time I added a drive was back around b10). Never mind my memory is failing I guess

Just added a 2TB disk and seeing the same, 1gb used after formating, seams to be normal for xfs, I remember it was about 35mb for reiser

OK good, I'm not crazy. Well, that may be too bold a statement

I added a 3TB drive a couple of weeks ago (all disks formatted XFS) and on this "empty" drive 1.50 GB is reported as used.  It was much less in ReiserFS.  I think what you are seeing is normal for XFS.

My 2tb drives show about 2gb used, When I was converting from reiser to BTRFS I had 2 disks that I couldnt copy as there was not enough space for the same data!!

Just added a 4TB WD red, shows 1.99GB used. I was worried until I found i'm not alone!
