MD-1510 won't stay on

Featured Replies

I just bought an MD-1510/LC and it won't stay on.

Another symptom is that the power switch on top of the box seems a little out of whack. The button doesn't return to the top of the cylinder. When the PSU rocker switch near the power cord jack is on, and I'm trying to look through that accessory panel at the connections near the power switch, the system will spontaneously seem to try and start up, and the light that I assume comes from the internal USB drive comes on.

The system has been on as long as a couple of hours and as briefly as a few seconds. I had the chance to get the DualServer DHCP working and change the workgroup during a couple of those longer intervals.

Sounds like a flaky power switch.  You will need to email Lime Technology directly, see their Contact page.

Thanks, I did that this morning. I was hoping there was a MacGyver soda-straw/paper-clip solution out there.

There was a flaky power switch. Lime-tech responded to my email and gave me guidance so I could fix it, which involved disassembling the case. By sheer luck not only did disassembly allow me to verify that the power switch was the culprit, but I also fixed it. It was like that time I fixed my Datsun B-210 that wouldn't start. I opened the hood, looked around, saw a disconnected wire and reattached it.

Since fixing the power switch I have had it freeze up once. I have a monitor and keyboard hooked up so that hopefully I can see any death rattles on the screen. I'm going to let it do its 140 minutes of parity check, just to see if it finishes that.

It's now past this and past a mass copy of some music files. I'm going to put a surge suppressor in. There is a fair chance that the mains caused the box to lock up.

This box has been powered up continously since my last post, serving music files.
