Process for moving cache drives

Featured Replies

hi all,

I managed to migrate from v5.05 to v6 over the weekend and everything seems to be working well.  I have also liberated a spare Ssd from my main machine.  Currently the cache is an old mechanical 5400 rpm drive running on Reiser. I know I can add the ssd and form a cache pool.  However this raises some questions.

1. I presume that my best course would be to remove the mechanical drive and use the ssd as a cache. What is the best process to achieve this?

2. If I kept both the ssd and the mech drive, would performance be at the pace of the mechanical drive?

3, Not a big deal.  But is there a way to transfer files (eg docker) from the mech drive to the ssd?

I have done some searches but nothing that seems to address this situation.  Sorry if I have missed anything and thanks in advance.
