fresh 6.0 install 4 gig ram, 3 gig allocated?

Featured Replies

So i just installed 6.0 on a friends box.  Its on its 2nd reboot and i got everything up and running, but its only using 3 out of 4 gig of ram.  Its 2 sticks of 2 gig each.  I have not touched the go file.  Says

allocated 3077 MB

installed 4096 MB (max. 8 GB)

I believe 1 gb is mapped and allocated to the boot and root and log and tmp filesystems, so that may be where the 1gb is going to.

What do to following commands produce;

free -m

df -h

df -h /

well that might explain why my 8 gig ram system is showing:

allocated 7879 MB

installed 8192 MB
