SNAP vs. Mythbuntu KVM Question

Featured Replies

I am trying to have 1x2tb disk that is mounted and shared by SNAP outside of the array. I would like to use this device for two things only:

1. To store the ISO file for my Muthbuntu installation

2. To store recordings from Mythtv

Is this possible to do? I understand that I need to create a cache only share for vm install points, which I have done. I currently have the ISO file residing also on the cache drive. I would like to move this and the recordings to one outside the array disk.

My question is: is this possible? Will the order in which SNAP loads have the share "ready" when a VM starts itself? What is the best practice for using a VM and a SNAP shared device?

My plan was to have the first vDisk be a cache only share located at /mnt/cache/vmdata and store the ISO file in /mnt/cache/appdata/ISO

and somehow map a share that is on this outside the array disk only to /recordings

While SNAP is functional under unRAId 6 it is not supported and is deprecated. Look into using Unassigned Devices plugin instead.

So SNAP is depracated? I have no idea. OK, so will this plugin do what I want? It will load these mounts before a VM, so a VM is able to utilize the shares?
