If you absolutely need it, I would encourage using a VPN connection into the LAN. Do NOT actually expose management or file sharing ports to the internet directly. This isn't just unsupported, its downright dangerous.
June 27, 201511 yr That said, unRAID 6 can be secured on the LAN well enough. Assign a root password and use private shares.
