Added ssd cache disk format question

Featured Replies

Hi i just installed my 120 gb ssd. I'm going to use this as an cache drive.

I just booted up my server and the drive is connected and listed in the GUI. I have not started the array just assigned the disk as the cache slot.

Before i go ahead and start the array do i need to format the drive or will unraid take care of this?

i followed these instructions: https://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Cache_disk#Adding_a_cache_disk_to_the_array

but it didnt mention anything about formatting.

Just want to make sure before i hit any red buttons :P

unRAID always takes care of formatting any drives that you put under its control.  In fact if you did format it before adding it then unRAID would normally overwrite it anyway.
