June 29, 201511 yr So I will be upgrading from 5.0.6 to 6 in the next few days and when i do I want to use docker for Plex, SAB, SB, Sonnar, etc. However I see there are multiple dockers from different people. Why so many, whats the difference between them and how do I know what one to choose? Thanks
June 29, 201511 yr Car Analogy time: Docker containers are like cars. A car will get you from Point A to Point B. Different cars look differently but still get you from point A to Point B. Some cars are made by Ford (Debian) others Chevy (Arch) while others are german Imports (SUSE). No matter which car you choose you will still get from Point A to Point B, there may be a few features different but the end result is the same. If you want to tinker under the hood there will be a vast difference in each one, but generally only mechanics(linux hackers) that like to get their hands dirty ever go down that path. That's the easiest way to explain the differences in the containers. Pick one you like that has the features you want and install it. Beyond that you'll see little to no difference unless you open up the hood.
June 29, 201511 yr I get the analogy but I think what OP is looking for is a comparison of the dockers already created for unraid. Plex for example, what is difference between needos, binhex and LT's dockers.
June 29, 201511 yr Needo's dockers are based on phusion as the base OS (which is some type of Ubuntu I think). Binhex's dockers are based on Arch (I think) linux... It is generally a good idea to stick to the same base OS, so it re-uses a lot of the components across dockers. I usually stick to the phusion dockers.
