July 1, 201511 yr First off, kudos to the devs for all the excellent work behind the scenes Looking to build my first home NAS, a 20TB system Can someone enlighten me on these file systems? ReiserFS/BTRFS/XFS? Which is the most stable for my purpose? A home system to store movies/photos/music and the odd documents with a cloud back up. Any light shed on the issue would be lovely
July 1, 201511 yr The default is XFS. ReiserFS is legacy and BTRFS is more complicated and potentially problematic. None of the things you've mentioned would benefit from using BTRFS. I recommend XFS.

I recommend XFS. +1 Unraid 6 defaults array disks to XFS and cache disks to BTRFS. I would follow this approach when building out a new server.
