July 4, 201511 yr I just installed a new cache drive. (I used the old cache drive to replace a smaller drive.) I'm using version 4.7. The cache drive is listed correctly on the "disk status" page, but it's always powered down and not being written to. For instance, I'm transferring a bunch of recorded TV files to the unraid server, but the cache drive is powered down. Should I reinitialize the cache drive somehow? Thank you.
July 4, 201511 yr It's going to be harder and harder to get support for v4.7, as most of us have forgotten too much of the v4 unRAID interface. I believe you need to turn on usage of the Cache drive for the User Shares, but I have no idea where you do that. You might check the old unRAID Manual on the wiki. Just discovered the Cache drive is not even mentioned, even once, in the old unRAID Manual (official and unofficial)! You might try the "FAQ, Cache Drive" section though. I would strongly recommend you consider upgrading to the current v6.0.1. It's free. You can upgrade straight to v6 without upgrading to v5 by using the 'clean' install. For help, use the Upgrading to UnRAID v6 guide.
