[FEATURE REQUEST - KVM] - Ability to choose a different model type for the NIC

Recommended Posts

Right now KVM VMs default to 'virtio' for the model type for the virtualized NIC and there are no other choices unless you manually edit the XML and change it.  However, if you edit the VM by clicking the icon and selecting Edit, the model type will revert back to virtio.

Use case:  I PXE boot OpenELEC and have to use a model type of e1000 since virtio drivers are not included in the compiled OE images.  I'm sure there are other cases but this is the one that impacts me.  In the ESXi world, you had a choice of vmxnet2, vmxnet3 and e1000 (if I recall correctly).  Can we have the same functionality in the VM Manager?
