mount -t smbfs/cifs > eh what password

Featured Replies

This is driving me crazy. I am making a silly mistake and i cant figure it out.

unRAID 4.4beta6 setup with no passwords and everything read/write.

mount -t cifs //TOWER/TV/ /mnt/smb/

from debian stable constantly asks me for a password.

I have tried blank, random, and various usernames along with -t smbfs for a laugh.

Whats silly mistake am I making cause i dont remember this ever being an issue before... it just worked oni the rare occasion i had to use it

Ta :)

Edit: Windows works with no explicit permissions using defaults only.

So much weirdness.

Replace hostname with IP and it still asks for a password but hitting return for a black password mounts the files.

No clue wtf is going on there.
