August 4, 200916 yr I have an ECS A790GXM-A motherboard. Been running my Unraid Pro server for about 8 months with this board. Everything has been working well. The only issue I have is that I can not use both of my LAN connections at the same time. If I plug the cable into port 1 it works just fine. If I plug it into port 2 I have no network connection. I have tested both of the ports using an Ubuntu boot disc and the are both functional. According to the specs the LAN chipsets are both Realtek 8111C which is supported by Unraid. I am looking for someone to help me enable the second port so I can use them both at the same time. -I also have my Unraid server set to a static IP. Could that have anything to do with it? Thanks, Mark
August 4, 200916 yr Are you meaning use them both as a virtual single network card. If so I believe I am right in saying there is no way to enable teaming in unRAID at teh moment. If you mean use them both as two NICs for say two differernt network I am sure that is probably possible
August 4, 200916 yr Author I was hoping to connect them both to the same network to increase the available bandwidth to the server. Sounds like it isn't possible at this time. Still seems odd to me that one will work and the other won't when connected individually. -Mark
August 4, 200916 yr You need teaming then which means 2 network cards work as one with 1 IP address. Simply enabling both NICs will give you 2 IPs which isnt ideal at best and useless at worst.
August 4, 200916 yr Author Thanks for answering my question. Perhaps someday teaming will be available in Unraid. -Mark
August 4, 200916 yr I think it is almost a certainty it will come one day as the network is a bottleneck
