July 18, 201510 yr Hi All. I upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0.6. In these instructions (http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Upgrade_Instructions) it says "4. Go to Utils/New Permissions and execute that utility to change file ownership and permission settings. This is necessary for proper operation of the 5.0 security model." I have done this. 1) How long does it take for this execution to occur? 2) When I did this, a second window opened in my browser. The second window says "Waiting for data..." and is otherwise blank. Should there be something in this window? Thank you.

It can take some time - the length of time depending on the number of files on your system. 2) When I did this, a second window opened in my browser. It is also possible to achieve the equivalent by running in a console/telnet session the command newperms . when issued with no parameters the newperms command works through the all the disk drives in the array. You get some feedback on progress in the console/telnet session when run this way. You can also provide an optional parameter that is the path to which it is going to be used and in such a case the command only runs against that path.
July 18, 201510 yr Author Thank you. I tried the newperms command. That seems to be working. The "new permissions" execution appears to have gone through the cache drive and now is on the first data drive (of 4, total of 7TB). Still nothing in the second window, but maybe this is a Firefox issue. I'll update again once everything is settled.
July 18, 201510 yr Author According to the "newperms" command, it finished in a little over an hour. I never did get anything in the second browser window.
