July 20, 201510 yr After much pestering through PMs and some forum posts I have a post over at LinuxServer.io on how to set all this up. https://www.linuxserver.io/index.php/2015/07/20/how-to-active-directory-on-unraid-6/ Feel free to hit me up on #linuxserver.io on Freenode.
July 22, 201510 yr Thanks for the write up, I recently brought up a DC at home and wanted to integrate unraid into it. But I stopped because of quirky permissions, so I will have to give this a try again soon. - NinthWalker
November 19, 201510 yr [v6.1.3] Just another tip: I just rebooted my array and after booting (a second time as it didn't come up clean the first time) it was unjoined from my DC. I suspect that this was due to my DC being offline at the time. Question - is there a dependency on the DC being up on boot? If so - worth noting this somewhere. Once I rejoined from the SMB settings page, windows was doing its old prompt for access (NTLM prompt) with nothing working. Doing this from a command window: net use \\tower\ipc$ kicked everything into life. No more prompting and everything working. Didn't even need to type in a password. Once I was in I could even net use \\tower\ipc$ /d and everything still works. This is consistent with previous AD joining experiences; I've always needed to do this once to kick the authN/authZ into life (only one client PC, not all)
