keepitshut
Hi all, I am in a very weird position now. Just a day ago I was running the pre-clear script through the plugin on my 2 surviving hard drives before attempting to place them in my new unRAID build. I was running the pre-clear an a separate test system as I was building the main server today. After the pre-clear was complete I disconnected the 2 drives and began working on my new server. Now when I use these 2 drives in my new build, they are now completely undetected. Not even by the BIOS, I know this is extremely weird, but is it possible that the script did something to my drives and is there a way to recover them? EDIT: The 2 drives in question do not even spin up. I am certain its not a cabling issue because the drives are in a hot swap cage and other drives have spun up and worked on the exact same slots. Thank you all for the help. Link to comment
itimpi
The pre-clear does nothing that would cause drives to not be detected. It simply zeroes every sector on the disk. I would carefully check all cabling and power supply to the drive. The most likely thing is that one of these is wrong. How are the drives connected? Are you sure that the power supply is OK? It is possible that the drives have actually failed, but that seems extremely unlikely. Link to comment
keepitshut
I am using the PC-Q25 Case which comes with 5 hot swap bays. I just tested the exact same slots with spare drives and they at the very least spun up and were detected by the BIOS. Its just odd because the 2 drives were working perfectly fine just the day before. For reference, I used the pre-clear script accompanied with the webui plugin. Really hoping there's some way to get them back. Link to comment
scottc
Do the drives show up on the test system you used to pre-clear them? Link to comment
keepitshut
I can not do that anymore because I had to reuse certain components like my RAM and PSU. Can not believe this is happening. Looks like new drives it shall be then. Link to comment
