[Solved] Just Tried to upgrade to 6.0...Cannot Boot from USB?

Featured Replies

I just tried to upgrade from 5.0.3 to 6.0.1

I backed up my old flash, then formatted. i extracted 6.0.1 to the new flash 'UNRAID', I ran 'make_bootable' and copied over my config files and Share folder without the old GO file. I ejected the flash and put it into my server, at power up it shows the Flash as a USB Storage Device, but also give me a 'DISK BOOT FAILURE' and asks for a system disk.

I check my BIOS and it is unchanged, all options set to boot from USB.

I'm not sure what I missed.

If you did this from Windows 7 or 8/8.1, did you run this as administrator (right-click, run as administrator)?

One more thing too, make sure boot is set for non UEFI for the USB drive if you have the option.

ran the 'make_Bootable' as Admin.

I do not have that option. Nothing changed in the bios and I did go back and check.

Something else must be missing. I'm running a JD 2GB Firefly since 2008 without any issues. Maybe something else is missing.

Thanks

Thanks guys...It was indeed a BIOS issue...Its an ABit board and the bios had 2 places for boot priority. So though I gave my USB boot priority, I then had to go to the device priority page and move the FireFly to 1st.

Glad it's fixed, as I didn't have many other solutions for you!  :P
