Question About Faulty Drive

Featured Replies

Hey All,

I tried upgrading to v6.0.1 yesterday and one of my drives came up as faulty after the upgrade. The parity was also listed as not valid, but I assume this is because of the faulty drive. I rolled back to v5.0.6 and there were no issues with the drive or the parity. The drive v6.0.1 is listing as faulty is the only drive I have connected to a SATA controller card. What I'm thinking is that my controller card is supported by v5.x, but not by v6.x. Does this sound probable?

Thanks.

What exactly do you mean by this? Maybe a screenshot would help clarify.

That doesn't seem right but not sure what you mean by "faulty".

Possible but maybe not probable. Can you tell us anything useful about this hardware?

Hey trurl, apologies for the lack of info. I'm at work right now, so I don't have access to all the specs and everything.

What I mean by faulty is this. v6 has a dashboard in the web gui. One of the columns is "faulty" and this is where that drive is listed. I'm also unable to add it to the array. In v5 the drive functions fine.

Still would like to see a screenshot of both Dashboard and Main. Also a little concerned about your use of the word "add".

Normally, adding a drive to an existing parity array will require it to be precleared, or unRAID will clear it, in order to maintain existing parity. The only way to "add" a drive with data on it is to do a New Config and rebuild parity.

Which do you mean to do?

Please see this post, and check your SATA card against the ones listed there.  Also, can you provide the output of the lspci command?  It shows the model numbers for all PCI devices, including SATA cards.
