Stopping VM when stopping the array

My VM is installed on the cach drive. However, when I stop the array, also the VM stops running. Is this expected behavior and is the VM (with Win 8.1) hybernated or properly shut down when stopping the array? Thanks in advance for any answers and thoughts. Thanks!

It's expected.  The cache drive stops with the array. The array wouldn't be stopped because the vm would be keeping cache drive busy. The vm gets sent a shutdown command and if that doesn't work it's forced to shut down. If you want it to hibernate, maybe set Windows to hibernate when power is pressed.

Brilliant, thanks! So, when I set to hibneration, starting the VM will actually bring it back from hibernation?
