Transferring large files and time outs

Featured Replies

I never really had this problem with Unraid 5. After upgrading to 6 I have been experiencing problems when adding 20 gig files to my unraid server. Windows keeps giving me an unexpected error occurred, media offline. Well the media is not offline. I have tried multiple PC's going to the unraid box and get the same problem. Sometimes after trying several times it will work eventually. Is there an error log in unraid to look at? I have about 640gigs free yet, that really is the only thing besides the upgrade that has changed. I was thinking maybe my free space is getting to low? Smaller files, maybe under 1 gig do not seem to have a problem writing to the unraid box. I am at a loss at the moment. I am running unraid 6 on an HP40l box with 2 gigs of RAM. Does the hardware need to be stronger now? I am not doing any docker or VM's. Storage only.

Nothing on this? I have transferred files from computer to computer over the network with out any issues. Something seems to be going on with the UnRaid Box.

Do you have a cache drive and is it BTRFS? I had lots of weird transfer issues to and from my unraid but once I changed my cache drive from BTRFS to XFS all my problems disappeared.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will give that a shot. I am in the middle of upgrading a drive right now so I will plan on doing that when that finishes. I do not run a cache drive. It sure does seem to be the allocation thing, the CPU jumps on the unraid box so I know they are talking after a few minutes it just stops and windows gives the random error.
