NIC Issues on New Install

Featured Replies

Hey guys I am new to this and I am setting up a new UNRAID 6 box.  The first box I set up worked like a charm.  However I wanted bigger and faster.

The problem is when it boots up it is not pulling a IP from my DHCP server.

if I do a ifconfig eth0 the status is UP, BROADCAST, RUNNING, MULTICAST.

I can see the Mac address but it will not pull an IP.  I am on my 3rd NIC.  At first I thought it was the NIC but since have been to MicroCenter 3 times and gotten 3 different brands.

Can anyone help.  Please keep in mind that I am Microsoft Engineer and not very good in Linux/Unix commands.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

UPDATE...  I took the NIC out of my working UNRAID Box that was working with no problems and still no luck.  I have disabled the onboard nic.  for the life of me I can't figure out why it won't get an IP. If I connect my laptop into that same port I have no problem at all...

Where are you seeing the MAC address? On the router?

Are you sure you have Settings - Network Settings set to "Obtain IP address automatically"?

What is the command to enable DHCP from root

If you can't get to the webGUI of unRAID, you can manually edit config/network.cfg on the flash drive. Be sure to use an editor that saves Linux line-endings correctly, such as notepad++
