Motherboard Issues

Featured Replies

I originally had an ABIT AB9 PRO motherboard which worked fine! But unfortunately my new case with hotswap enclosures don't fit the board (the enclosures can't be fully inserted without hitting the motherboard).

I had a spare Gigabyte EP45-DS3L lying around at home so I figured I would try that board. But it seems it won't allow me to use my Rosewill 16x SATA card (it doesn't let you run it in the 16x slot).

I am looking for a board recommendation that will 100% work booting headless and allowing me to run my Rosewill 16x card in the 16x slot. I am hoping for around 8 slots on the board (8 + 4 = 12, my max amount of drives my enclosures take). Will take less on the motherboard if another SATA card will work in conjunction with the Rosewill. Looking on the cheaper side of motherboards as well!

Thanks!

I would contact any board manufacturer or ask on this forum before buying a board especially if you need the x16 slot to work for anything besides video.  With that said I did some looking and I like these two boards:

EVGA 113-YW-E115-TR LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 730i HDMI

and

BIOSTAR TA790GXE 128M AM2+/AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI

Both are not on the Hardware Compatibility Page but if your willing to try they could be good boards for you.
