Can't start any VM

Featured Replies

I'm getting this when trying to start any of them.

Error: Hook script execution failed: internal error: Child process (LC_ALL=C PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin HOME=/ /etc/libvirt/hooks/qemu daweb prepare begin -) unexpected exit status 126: libvirt:  error : cannot execute binary /etc/libvirt/hooks/qemu: Exec format error

Does it matter that /etc/libvirt is full?

/dev/loop1      1.8M  1.8M     0 100% /etc/libvirt

Tried to attach syslog but it's too big (336KB). I can paste it somewhere if someone thinks it will help.

If it helps here is a list of my plugins. Just updated nerd tools and community apps tonight and then rebooted after deleting the docker image because it was full for some reason.

Unassigned Devices -gfjardim 2015.07.21a

ssh Plugin -overbyrn 1.2

Powerdown Package (2.17) -WeeboTech/dlandon 2015.07.25

Community Applications - Squid/gfjardim/bergware 2015.08.09

Nerd Tools - eschultz 2015.08.09

FileBot -  PhAzE 2015.07.28.1

Dynamix webGui - Bergware 2015.06.26

You know more than I do about Docker stuff, so I'll just point out things I noticed, and you can hopefully diagnose something from it.  The second and third items appear serious, the rest are minor.  I suspect the condition of /dev/loop1 is interfering with VM operations.

* On boot, it appears to create a new docker.img of 50GB, on /dev/loop0, successfully.

* It immediately then complains that /dev/loop1 is corrupt.  I cannot see how or where it's mounted, or what it's associated with, but it looks severely corrupted, fsck is recommended, may also be full (no free blocks)?

* Just over a minute later, the first MCE occurs (machine check event, hardware error).  I'm sure I don't have to tell you how serious and hard to fix they are.  There are multiple MCE reports.  I don't see anything that might be a clue.

* The following pair of lines occurs repeatedly (almost 150 times), perhaps harmless -

Aug 10 23:47:57 unRaid shfs/user: shfs_rmdir: rmdir: /mnt/disk5/Downloads/retropiev1/.sync/Streams/85 (39) Directory not empty

Aug 10 23:47:57 unRaid shfs/user: shfs_rmdir: rmdir: /mnt/disk5/Downloads/retropiev1/.sync/Streams/98 (39) Directory not empty

* The go file loads unMENU packages, any possibility of conflicts there?

* I assume that either unMENU packages or /boot/extra packages are being loaded, as the plugin loading process loads then uninstalls several packages.  I don't believe this is that important, but the un-installations do greatly enlarge the syslog.

--- screen 4.0.3 is loaded, then uninstalled, and screen 4.2.1 (from NerdPack) is installed

--- git 1.8.4 is loaded, then uninstalled, and git 2.3.5 (from NerdPack) is installed

--- python 2.7.5 is loaded, then uninstalled, and python 2.7.9 (from NerdPack) is installed

* Networking is reporting RX errors, 11096 overrun packets, on eth0.  I don't know what significance that has, but it seems high, unusual.

First off.. Thank you! So much. I appreciate your help and without you I wouldn't have gotten this fixed.

What I ended up doing to fix the particular issue I was having is go to /boot/config/plugins/dynamix.kvm.manager and rename the domain.img to domain.img.bak so that the domain.img would be recreated. I'm up and running again with VMs!

On the other stuff. I was also having an issue with my Docker image filling up even though I gave it 50GB. Not sure what the problem was so I deleted the old one and on reboot it created a new one. That's what you saw.

/dev/loop1 being corrupt is the domain.img I talked about above. Letting the dynamix plugin recreate it fixed my issue. I have to create new VM xmls but my images are still there so I can just point at them and all is well.

MCE.... I have no clue. Everything was working fine before and seems to be now but I guess I should figure that out.

I wasn't loading unMenu. I stripped a lot out of my go file. I think that line might have been there because I have Trolley installed. And Trolley was installing screen, python, git, etc... so I removed those from Trolley and now I think I'm good there. The server booted up WAY faster so thank you for pointing that out!

Again, thank you so much! I'm feeling a lot better at this point.
