August 18, 200916 yr I use unRAID at home like most for mediaserver data storage and really like it. I was thinking it might be a good fit for a need at work. I need a large storage device to store and archive hard disk drive images from PC's and Laptops using some sort of archiving utility. Has anyone done anything like this with unRAID either using the commercial products like Ghost or Acronis or the open source ones like clonezilla, etc. Some of these can use NFS or iSCSI targets. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, -David
August 18, 200916 yr I'm backing up images to unRAID using Macrium Reflect - seems to work great. I've not had to rebuild from an image yet, but I've had no problem opening an image and browsing through individual files. I'm just using the free edition currently, I believe for commercial use you would need to buy the program. I'm sure there are others, just pointing out one option you might want to investigate. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

I use the bootup cd & when I create the image I tell Acronis to use the unRAID server as the destination. Works great. Have restored from the server also.
